My restored Pagoda
« on: May 13, 2013, 11:15:12 »
Hi,

The “nut & bolt” restoration project of my moss green 1970, 280SL, is already finished! It took 9 months - very intensive process... I can say only compliments about my workshop located near Warsaw. The restoration was made according Data Card -  moss green paint (834G - Glasurit), MB-tex upholstery (Germanautotops), dark green soft top and anthracit carpet (KHM), retractable Kangol seatbelts (NATO new old stock) and additionaly beautifull black herringbone cocomats (cocomats.com). Engine was fully overhauled.

Now its time to take ride...  :)

Special thanks to:

John Oganesyan - from Germanautotops (upholstery)
Drew T. Phythian - from cocomats.com (cocomats)
Konrad von Liebenstein - from volico.de (interior paints - I used them to paint sunvisors. Now they look like new ones)

Some additional pics...

Guys

I saw the beauty on Friday and Saturday (as well as her duly exited owner ;D). She looks unbelievable: fresh, pretty and willing, so to speak :D.

The fact is, what I said to Artur, that she would never look as beautiful as on those first days, but isn't it like that with everything, except for good wine?

Artur, I did it already in person, but I think this Forum is exactly to express things that should last: CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Stunning! Love the colour (I know you didn't choose it as such) but that is a fantastic set of photos

Head to the lakes in the summer and drive the shine off it!

Have heard quite a bit about incredible restoration shops in Poland ... this looks really nice.  Would be great to see some photos of the car prior to the restoration and in progress if you would share.

Impressive ... congrats.

Also, I believe you're the one who assembled that nice video that Stan and Sonia posted   ---   much appreciated.

Hi,
Thank you all for so many compliments about my Pagoda and 50th anniversary compilation.

Next time (probably on weekend) I'll take pictures with soft top up.
The car was very solid - it spent whole life in Massachusets (2 owners). There was no rust in the body or in the floor panel. It was hidden in the garage since 1997.
The paint was in poor condition - kind of enamel (DuPont).
It has been sanded during restoration process and paint with Glasurit laquer.

I can only confirm that workshops in Poland are able to do incredible job. In fact very significant percent of Pagodas and 190SL offered for sale in Germany were restored in Poland. Of course there are better and worse workshops.

Here are some pics - before and during restoration.

regards
Artur

What a difference, and a gorgeous car. If you are going to Willingen, remind me to park as far away from your car as possible....

Maybe I should send mine to Poland for a 9-month rejuvenation course!

Peter,
I take that your words are a hidden expression of an acute Pagodophobia, a mark of discrimination against other w113 cars, as well as unduly differentiation amongst Pagodas.

Remember that all Pagodas were created equal (even those that were sadly created RHD  :D).
Under the existing rules, your attitude should be banned as such that rejects diversity, equality etc etc and what have you...
As punishment I would propose that your car is forced to stay close to Artur's in every event for the next 12 month.
No appeal granted
Thank you very much
yours truly
 ;D

Having said that, your car is welcome for SPA Polish style (how about her owner? ???)

If it means I can drive his away, and he rejuvenates mine for 9 months, we might have a deal....  ;D

sounds that you may have discovered a new business at this Forum: Pagoda swapping ::).

Should we have a separate thread for Pagoda swingers? ;D
