Bosch Rubber Wiper Blade Replacement Option
« on: October 14, 2015, 14:32:01 »
With winter approaching I've needed to replace the rubber wiper blades, was quoted an eye-watering amount of approx €50- for new wiper blade rubber refills!

After an online search, I purchased 2 Bosch H305 Rear Wipers for all of  €9- each: http://www.oscaro.com/balai-d-essuie-glace-bosch-3-397-011-239-2493055-298-p
Removed the rubber blades from the black wiper frames and fitted them to the existing chrome wipers. They're a perfect fit and identical to the original damaged rubber blades.

Best,

Mike

What is the width in millimeters of the rubber going into the claws, the width across the top?

As I mentioned above, they're identical- 6mm wide where the claws go in at the top and 8.5mm at the widest point.
I checked the new Bosch H305s against the original Bosch blades which I replaced and which were in the packet pictured below.

Interesting, the opposite shape of my 250 SL with original blades (part that holds the refills).  Mine refills are not pyramid shape like yours, the widest point is at the top, almost 10mm.  Thanks for the info.  I had success buying the Trico 47-800 refill (8mm) and bending the claws of the blade inward to hold them.  $6.99 for two refills long enough to make 4 for the car.

These ones look similar to mine on a 280SL. The Trico P/N for the refills that worked with this trapezoidal section was 47-700.

It's great that Mike has identified a good Bosch replacement. These are good alternatives to the crazy prices some places are asking for the original replacement refills.
