Green 1965 230SL
« on: December 01, 2004, 18:05:45 »
I decided to collect several links to photos of my car in one place.  The first two were taken at the 2004 Palm Springs Concours.  Just added the last one, as I like the car against the background.

Chris,
Your car looks to me as being a very nice one ... I could be wrong but I don't believe so. :D
Looks like an Europa model... 8)
Outstanding! One of my favorite color combos.

Chris;
Since I have had a good working relationship as a concours judge and neither of us ended up side down over points I can voach to say that your car is defintely a beautifully restored exsample. I hope it will incorage more owners to show there pagodas at car shows here in Los Angeles, California. We could use some more exsamples like Chris's car to show against the 190SL &300SL group.
Thanks For Showing up with your SL
Sincerely
Bob Geco

This car is identical to mine.  I think I'll use it for wallpaper on my computer until I get some photos of my own car.  This one is the same colour, same wheels, same interior same apparent condition.  Unfortunately mine is in winter storage in Canada instead of at Palm Springs.  However, to look on the bright side, today is visiting day, when I go and sit in it and admire it, and do some hangar flying in anticipation of the first nice spring day when I bring it home.  I bought mine in late November and had one ride in it before the white stuff came.  This is driving me nuts!

Great car!!
Is the Palm Springs Concours an annual event?  Are there any other similar events in the greater LA area?  I live in South. Calif. and would like to participate if possible.
Thanks.

The Palm Springs concours has been cancelled for 2005.  I have to say that it was a bit disorganized last year, although I greatly enjoyed it and there were a lot of great cars there, including 8 or 10 300SL's.
Other Southern California concours are at Palos Verdes in September (http://www.pvconcours.com/) and Irvine in October (http://www.atscconcours.com/), where I got a third last year.  Both also had many great cars.

Joe and Chris,
You should go to the "soon-to-be-organized" Northern California Pagoda event this Spring.  There will be a formal announcement in the Events forum at some point, but see this link for now:

Maybe you can talk the Group into holding a Pagoda-Only concourse!

Thanks for the information.  I will definitely check them out.  Northern Calif. may be a tall order, but I can do Irvine and Palos Verdes.

Chris:
That photo alone was definitely worth reviving this thread. Thanks for posting it. Everyone who views it will absolutely appreciate that image. Simply beautiful.
