JACKING CAR
« on: February 07, 2008, 09:34:02 »
What are the best points front and rear to place a hydraulic floor jack?

Also placement of jack stands....below chassis jacking points?

Thanks !

for the front it depends on what you are doing.

typically you can jack and put stands under the sub frame behind the oil pan.  this keeps the subframe mounts from holding up the entire
weight of the motor.

Thanks Matt

I thought that was a good location, but just wanted confirmation.

Sorry to resurrect this one, but looking at the picture above, it seems to suggest that the torque arm itself is a suitable place to jack the rear of the car.

What little my Haynes manual says about jacking, it does say "Never jack up under the rear suspension link arms". I assume they are referring to the same thing, so I was just curious, which is right?

As I want to place axle stands at the torque arm mounting points, I guess it only leaves under the diff as the remaining 'safe' place as a jack point?
