correlation mixture controller - option

Recently I have seen references to checking the correlation of the throttle body and injection pump lever angles.

referred to as correlation mixture controller - injection pump
in the technical data book.  This covered in detail in the workshop manual passenger car types as of aug 59 vol 1 no 00-15

Here is the angle data from the technical data book


I found 2 different digital angle guages that once fitted to the tb / inj pump linkages could be used to check these angles.

As long as you have the rod from the injection pump lever to the cross shaft lever the right lenght the rest of the rods will follow in suit. What you will find is that the air controller valve will open much faster through the mid range of movement than the injection pump but both will end at 82 degrees. This insures that the air/fuel mixture will be leaner through the mid range where most of your driving will take place.
Idle requires a rich mixture on these engines so I pay more attention to spark plug colour at driving speed. WOT needs a richer mixture for obvoius reasons.

so, of course DR Dan is correct, however, I just had to try this myself.
first I followed the inj pump tour, making sure all was set right.

Then, made the brackets, mounted the gauges, checked the angle.
to my surprise the angles were just about dead on to the data from the technical data manual.

$40 bucks for 2 digital angle gauges
scrap metal .0062 in / 1.56 mm thick
about an hour cutting and beating metal
10 minutes of fun
satisfying that bug to try this - priceless
