Title: All hands on deck mailing....
Post by: Peter van Es on January 16, 2009, 21:51:54
Today I e-mailed all 1329 members a mailing regarding the Pagoda University Blacklick event and the Location field in your profile.

As this is the first time I'm sending a mailing from this site, and because the old hoster's mail server was blocked by many Internet Providers (such as AOL) I am very interested to see if you received the e-mail.

Please vote in the poll so that I have an idea of whether you did, or did not receive the e-mail.

Thanks

Peter

Thank you for responding to this poll... it's helping me fix an unexpected problem. I've figured out that recipients with the lowest 500 member numbers did indeed receive the mailing... all others did not. Our hoster (which is excellent by the way, at a much lower cost we have now a much more responsive system, just try the search function) imposes a limit of 500 outgoing e-mails per hour from our domain. Infuriating for me, but it helps prevent SPAM.

I'll need to modify the software to allow it to balance the transmission of the news letters in such a way that it spreads it over a longer period so as to not get close to that limit.

Once I've done that I'll send out the e-mail again... but that may mean that some of you may receive it twice!

Yup, I've spammed the board... and this time the entire mailing list, again. Sorry if you received the mail twice... but the majority of people did not receive a mail in the first place.

I'm experimenting with a new mailing list package (but am not pleased yet... since it is manual integration between that package and our user database).

Keep on voting... I hope most will receive a mailing over the next 2 days (yes, that's how long it will take!).

Since I already voted no, I can't vote yes that I got your second attempt.

This time it does not matter.... I know all 1332 e-mails have gone out! Thanks for letting me know!
