I have a sticker I put on the back of the car as a kid that I want to get off. See attached image.
I have 3M Adhesive Remover that I used on the interior of another car and didn't damage it, but I think it is a BAD choice for this application.
Any ideas?

My guess is the vinyl is now pretty brittle etc but you need to get that off to get to the adhesive.
Once there, I am sure there are all manner of proprietary products but most will be either alcohol or oil based: nail varnish remover (ask wife), meths, white spirit, wd40.... :o

Vinyl stickers can be removed by gently applying heat from a blow dryer for hair (borrow your wife's or girlfriends) and aim not too close to burn the paint, but heat up the adhesive and then a plastic putty knife to gently scrap off the warmed portion. Work in stages. Can use vaseline jelly or cream to soften the scraper on the paint.
Has helped me in the past with my sisters now 'deflowered' vw cabriolet. Dont aske me why she put a ton of flower power stickers on her car and let them bake under the hot New Mexico sun. The car was eventually repainted due to the fading of paint around the stickers.

Once you get the outer vinyl off, you likely will still have the adhesive residue. I like Goo Gone for that. Works fairly fast, and I have yet to see it damage paint. I would not use nail polish remover, which is usually acetone and can dull the paint. Good luck!

Call 3M adhesives division Tech Service and ask for advice. The number is 1 800 362 3550

Goo Gone is good because it's an organic compound (made or citrus or something). Alternatively just remove the stick using a hair dryer as mentioned below, and then polish away any residue with T-Cut or any other polish that cuts the top layer of lacquer to improve the look of the paint.
