Title: 250 to 230 rear end transplant
Post by: glenn on June 10, 2009, 01:46:10
Can I put a 250SL rear end in a 230SL??  Can I put a 250SE 4 door rear end in a 230SL??  Mainly for the disc brakes.

Hello,

They will interchange easily.  You will need to use the emergency brake cables for a W113 car with disc brakes.

You will also need the brake pressure regulator.

Glenn,

If you doing it just for the disc brakes, why bother? The majority of the braking is at the front on both cars. Many modern vehicles still use drum brakes. If you are going to do it then change the ratio of the rear diff and get more speed for your revs.

I'm changing my rear diff to get the benefits of a different ration. My drum brakes are well set up and in good condition, so changing to discs is an unwelcome hassle.
