Title: Pagoda newbie

I have just joined the group to educate myself before buying.  I am interested in a 1970 newly restored 280 sl.  Any advice on ownership?  Books recommended prior to purchase, how to choose a good mechanic, etc.?

Welcome Blair!

There is a ton of information on what to look out for, what the differences are between the models and so forth. I recommend you invest some time reading up on what interests you on the forums and the technical manual (see third tab on top of this page) and I am sure most of your questions will be answered.

Thanks!  I had not found that area of the site yet.  It was extremely helpful, and I will use much of that info.  I am looking forward to being an owner!
