Title: Spare wheel support
Post by: Larry & Norma on October 09, 2009, 08:05:53
Does anyone have a dimensional drawing of the spare wheel support in the boot(trunk). Mine has been converted to take an alloy wheel and i need to convert it back to take a steel wheel. Thanks

Can you post a picture of it?

Might do a swap...

Hi Naj. Here is the photo's. The support has been cut and welded and the position in the boot changed perhaps? It is a very solid mounting.

Naj, I guess you are not interested in swapping the support. Maybe you could post some pictures so that i can get an idea of how to
return mine to standard. (Or indeed any one who has photo's) Thanks

Hello, Larry,

Cannot decide whether to change to alloys or stay with steel wheels  :-\

Here's a pic.
Maybe you can work out the height considering the depth of the wheel chock.
Unable to measure one at the present time...

I have the bundt-cake alloys on my '66 250SE/coupe. I chose to keep the spare on the steel wheel for this exact reason. The spare is only used occasionally, and if I get a flat, I wouldn't keep it on for long, so the 'strange' look with three alloys and one green steel rim would never last for too long.

I would still like some more photos of a standard support at different angles so that i can work out how to un-modify the post. Anyone help?
