I was trying to preset a couple of the FM buttons on my Becker Europa II today. Once I found the station I wanted I pulled out the FM button and pushed it in to set it to the station. No such luck. The indicator moved to a different station. Am I missing something here? I have two AM to the far left and the remainder are FM.

Hi Hauser,
perhaps you did not pull the button out far enough?
It really sticks out! Try it again, it should work.

Without using excessive force the button will only protrude about a quarter inch or so. ???

Hmm ???
Then perhaps you did not push the button in firmly?
Here is the manual: http://www.beckerautosound.com/Classic/europa_stereo_II_73_80.html
If that does not work call Ed Ebel or Tom Mitchell at Becker Autosound for help.

I think Alfred may be on to something...if you do not press the button firmly in (even hold it a sec) it will want to deviate from the station you want.
My routine: dial into a station I like making sure red signal light is bright. Then pull out button. Then push in button firmly.
By the way, on my europa II, the FM stations respond immediately but for some reason, when I hit the AM stations there is a slight delay before I get sound. Just a quirky thing I 'spose.

Thanks Alfred! I'll have another go at it tomorrow.

I think what I was doing wrong was pulling and pushing in without tuning in first. The indicator was where I wanted it so I didn't move it and I just tried to set it as it was.

Hello,
I like to use some electrical contact cleaner/lubricant on these old radios. You can just open them up and hose them down. Exercise all the knobs and switches. Give them about an hour to dry. Everything seem to work easier and better afterward. Works especially well on scratch volume controls and intemittent issues on tuning.
