Title: Flasher Relay Replacing..Help
Post by: abe280SL on June 10, 2010, 19:41:34
Old flasher relay part 0 336 150 003 three prong is going to be replaced by square plastic four prong Kaehler 3.101.200 or part number 0008211063.  What re wiring do I have to do to make it work?  31, 54, 15 are in the old three prong relay
and 31, 49, 49a, C will be in the four prong new one.  I know that 31 is ground on both...and C I don't need to worry.
But, what corresponds to 54, 15 in the new relay? Is 49 for 54   and  49a for 15..or the other way around?
thanks in advance

Or if you can't: http://www.sl113.org/wiki/Electrical/FlasherRelay

15 is connected to the fuse or +12v, and  is the input circuit. I think it should be connected to terminal 49. The (switched) output is 49a and should be connected in place of 54. However, I give no guarantees!

Mercedes Classic center does have a replacement that is very close to the original. It comes with an short adapter harness and the relay mounts the same way the old one does. It is also a silver can.

The part number for my W111 is 000 544 58 32 26. These aren't cheap but they work well, are very easy to install and look close to original. I spoke with Tom Hanson. Tell him I sent you.

Problem resolved....get rid of those old tired flasher that are heat sensitive/voltage sensitive/watt sensitive and replace it with flasher relay from kaehler # 3.101.200 autohaus number 000 821 10 63 for $24 and works great.
The old flasher has   15               the new one is 49  49a  .  31 is 31 on both, 15 is 49, ignore C
                             31  54                               31  C
Now on the plug wire side pull out 54 and move it up to 49a leaving that area blank for C.  Now it should look like this in the old plug         15  54                      the new    49  49a
31                                           31   C is empty on the plug wire side
All you did is pulled out the wire from the 54 position and moved it up so it makes contact with 49a instead of C...nothing else has changed.  Plug the new flaher relay and you get even flashes on both sides without depending on battery voltage or light watt.
You could take the old one apart which is a beautfil piece of craftmanship for its time and move the contact points so that you can change the flash rate...but it will still be watt dependant.
