Vote for not more than four teams.
-
Watch the England - Germany game today to see if England boots Germany out and upsets this vote!
-
1966 blah blah
-
You were saying what Peter? ;D
-
1966 blah blah
What goes around comes around. ;D
-
Argentina and the Netherlands in the final. You heard it here first. ;D ;D
-
Hellooo!
I dont see Ghana on that list ? The list isnt complete. LOL
-
Sorry for the delay! Ghana just made it onto the stage.
-
So Netherlands will play Brazil..... ooooooh er!
And yes, shame about England... cheated out of the 2nd goal by referee error but outclassed by Germany every which way!
Peter
-
I'm sorry for all of you that voted for Brasil, at the unforeseen exit at the hands of the Netherlands :). Then again, I'm predicting a final between the Netherlands and Germany, which Germany will customarily win :'(.
Peter
-
Yup, the result from the game between the Netherlands and Brazil came as a bit of a surprise as I was one of those guys that voted for Brazil...
Looks like the Uruguayan team should not be underestimated
-
Same here! :o
I expected Argentina and Brazil to make it to the finals. I also did not expect Spain to keep its cool and beat Portugal.
Well, that is why I like this game - and the German 4 - zip, of course. ;D

Well, the Dutch have to beat Uruguay, which will be tough
And frankly, Spain should win tonight. Which puts them against Germany. Which should be a cracking game. The Germans ripped the Argentinians a new one this afternoon. Like many, I felt the front 4/5 plus Mascherano would be enough to get to the final but I was wrong (so was Maradona). Schweinsteiger bossed yet another game, him and Forlan must be up for player of the tournament so far
Which leaves Peter's "dream" scenario still alive. Them Germans are tough to beat. 11 times they have been to the semis in the last 15 tournaments....
-
That's true, but 'we' beat them in 1966.
They think it's all over............etc
-
;) James and Paul,
just remember your countryman:
"Soccer is a game for 22 people that run around, play the ball, and one referee who makes a slew of mistakes, and in the end Germany always wins."
Gary Lineker
Although "always" is not always correct.
-
Exactly. At least, the Dutch feel very much the same as Lineker. According to Cruyff: "You can't be certain you've beaten the Germans until they are on the bus home!".
Tosh.. don't see why that's a "dream" scenario. Only a week ago most people were saying the Dutch would be slaughtered by Brazil...
German team was awesome against Argentina... it was like a cat playing with a half dead mouse, especially with "Pigclimber".
Peter

Thats all very well Alfred, but we won in 1966 and that's all that matters. Ask any football fan.
-
Hi Paul,
of course England won 4-2 in 1966 against Germany .. the same way Argentina and Maradona beat you in 1986 and Germany now in 2010 - with the strong assist of the referees.
All that matters is that two knowledgeable Englishmen concluded that the 3rd "goal" never happened in 1966.
Hope you will enjoy the Final 2010! :)
-
Netherlands 3 , Uruguay 2 . What happened to the 'hand of God ' ? LMAO !
-
Thanks for posting that score Cynewan - I was too busy doing other things but now I know we're onto the finals ! Would be nice to win those this time around.
-
Congrats to the Dutch
Final should be a cracker whoever wins tomorrow and as England is so crap, I can watch the game stress-free. Unlike the Dutch and Germans/Spanish
-
Nails? Haven't any left. For those in the European Event, please hope the Dutch win the finals easily, or else I might have a heart attack (like in the last 2 minutes against Uruguay).
Peter
-
That must have been a nail biter indeed.
Only watched the first 55 minutes and then a area-wide electricity outage left us completely in the "dark". :-[
An yes, it looks like another nail biter tomorrow.
-
the same happened in 66. The year we won. They think its all over...........
-
Boy oh boy, the result of last night's game between Germany and Spain certainly game as a bit of a shock.
I guess we are now in for a very interesting final on Sunday....
-
Hi Jaco, interesting yes, but we already know the outcome of course!
-
Hi Jaco,
this wasn't a shock for me - the result of the Argentina game was. I did not expect Germany to advance that far - but then I also did not expect that both sides would play such a dull football yesterday.
Lets hope for a more exciting final.
-
Hi Jaco, interesting yes, but we already know the outcome of course!
Cees, with your immense predictive powers, pray what will be the outcome of Spain vs Holland?
-
Paul the German Octopus reckons Spain will win the final
Although he's probably only after your bikes while you're looking the other way.
He also reckons Germany will beat Uruguay, which is likely seeing as the Germans will turn up and play as a matter of pride, despite this being the most pointless of fixtures.
-
Sunday evening is just a formality, Holland will be victorious ;D
-
Holland victorious? Only if the players don't treat it as a comedy like some people do in Amsterdam. ;)

The legend to the photo reads:
Let The Games Begin: Sunday's World Cup final inspired an Amsterdam shop to stage a miniature version of the game in its display window, using "comedy condoms" to represent soccer players from Spain and the Netherlands.
-
Trust you to find one with condoms... talk to you tonight after the game...
-
Peter,
that was easy. It was National Public Radio - the quasi government-run radio station in the USA - that put the photo on its web site!
-
Well, I guess Albert (Albert-230SL) and "Pago" his trusty 113 get bragging rights this time around! Viva Espana!
-
:'(
Nuff about soccer already!

Glad to see you're still with us ;)
