Title: fuel pump leaking what to do?

Hi all
was borred and decided to rebuilt my fuel pump.assembled and to apart a few times now to stop all leaks.I am at my last leak .the pump now lwaks from the electric conectors . what gasket do i use there? are there any good sealants to use with fuel?and what oring do you use for between the pump halfs? it is not included in the MB kit.

If you have the short later pump, there are a couple of small 'O' rings on the insulators.

IIRC, you have to desolder the wires to get them on...

......I have used "JB-Weld" with great success on fuel related parts like tanks, carbs, cold start valve, fuelpumps etc. Buy be aware that that will give you a PERMANENT seal or repair.

Had the same problem with mine, except I changed every single O-ring in mine until I found out that it was leakin at the connecters. Like naj said, all you have to do is take the connecters off, replace the small o-rings in there and reassemble (but you do have to sauder the electrical connections again but its not bad at all). You can get the O-rings at the local hardware store (got mine at Ace). By the way, if anyone else is rebuilding the later style fuel pump, you can get the large O-rings (such as the one that goes between the impeller housing and the cover) at a hydraulics place for real cheap. It saved me from payin the MB price of $25, for one O-ring  :o.

WARNING about O-Rings: any O-ring you buy "over the counter" in a local hardware store, regardless of whether it fits or not, is in all likelyhood made of EPDM rubber.  This is not compatible with gasoline, oil or most solvents, and will not last that long.  That's one reason they are cheap.

Find an on-line source and get your O-Ring made of VITON.  There are plenty of places that will carry them, including many hydraulic supply houses.

Are MB O-rings Buna or Viton? I'd go with Viton if not.
