Title: What fuel to use
Post by: GroovyTiggr on January 12, 2011, 12:18:52
I just bought my first Pagoda (230sl '64) and want your advice on which fuel to use.

The guy I bought it from told me I could use EURO95 fuel. I already read on this forum that in France (for example), E10 (ethanol) is added and that this is harmfull for the car.
I know there are some substitutes for the fuel with lead (plomp) are those recommended to be used?

Please enlighten me.

I'm running fine on 95 octane unleaded. There are a lot of opinions on whether it is necessary to use lead-substitute additives or not, as the valve seats are hardened already. I use it every second time I fill up. I haven't heard that the ethanol should be harmful - but up here the fuel only contains 5% and not 10...

As far as I know there is consensus ("overeenstemming") here that unleaded fuel is fine, no lead substitutes necessary.

Great Im gald to know that there is no concern regarding our w113 and unleaded fuel. I did read that there is an additive available but if you guys say there is not need then i won't worry about it
