Is there anyway of ascertaining if my headlight lenses are for a RHD or LHD car.
No jokes please Tosh about turning them on!!!
The car is a European LHD car but the lights have been adjusted to allow the car to pass UK MOTs, albeit with a deflector on one headlight. I actually think one lens was probably replaced with a UK lens
I am maybe going to place the car back onto Spanish plates and they will be stricter, so before I start to play with adjustments, I need to know what I have. Are there any identifying marks that can identify LHD or RHD?

who me? ;)

Hi, Rob,
Have a look in the tech manual.
It shows the different lens markings for LHD and RHD lenses.
Also, the parking light bulbs are above the main bulb in one application and below on the other.
Reflectors can be adapted to drive on 'the other side' by turning them thru 180*. A new notch would have to be 'dremmeled' for the main bulb to get the correct asymetric pattern.
Yes, ( as Tosh did not say) turning the lights and shining them on a wall can help you determine what you've got!

Yes, Rob, there is. Of course.
The LHD lens 113 826 02 90 has the imprinted Bosch number 1 305 630 005
and the RHD lens 113 826 03 90 has the imprinted Bosch number 1 305 630 006
and a little arrow directing to the left (I believe) above the "Bosch" inscription which the LHD lens does not have.
Our Wiki shows the differences very well.

For the differences of the reflectors, pls. see Naj's comments.

Hello Rob,
That's absolutely no problem. ;)
You may want to use the one headlight on the Continent and the other one on the Isle. ;D
Or you can try to obtain each one of the missing headlight lenses (that would be my choice). Then you have got one set for RHD traffic and another for LHD... :D
You don't really want to know what MB asks (requests) for a 113 826 03 90 (RHD) lately... :o :'( :o ;
the other one (LHD) is currently NLA. :'(

Presumably then, both the drivers and passenger side lights are identical?
-
Yes, Rob,
Both should be identical.

Do any of the rest of the MB range have the same lens glass? Thinking whether any of the breakers in Spain may have one.

Rob,
What do you believe?? :D
Look at the similar cars: W108, W111 sedan & coupe, W114 or W198 II ! ;) :D
No, of course not. The headlight lenses for the W113 are unique to the W113. No other car has those. :-\ :'(
Furthermore, those are not easy to come by in used condition.
As mentioned before; you need an additional one for each country, so that you have two LHD and two RHD.
For the RHD lens 113 826 03 90 you need to find one in the UK, for the LHD 113 826 02 90 lens I don't have one currently but see P/N

No, Rob, to a _real_ friend. But I need to protect his privacy here... ;) :D[/size]

Hi Rob,
have you resolved this issue yet? I'm just wondering if perhaps, in this world of "don't ask, don't tell," you might persuade the inspector that having one-of-each is the proper specification. After all, most recent cars have headlights that are symmetric, but not identical, don't they?
Just hope the inspector isn't a member of this forum. ::)
