Hi All,
Helping out a friend , with an unfinished 71-280 trunk, but he does not have any records on how the Jack-Clamps were fixed to the Trunkfloor .
Anybody willing to share a Detailed-Picture of the mountingplates , so i can help him making some new ones?
Attached an picture of the clamps
Thanks

Excellent Naj, Thanks a million, this helps alot.
On your picture under the small Clamp ,i see a U-shaped Bracket welded to the Floorpanel .
Could you just tell me how high it stands (from the Floor to the bottom of the Clamp) ?
Thanks again

Hi, Mark,
Thought you might ask that!
There is maybe a 1mm gap under the clamp.
This is not my car. Just one I saw today while visiting a friend's car. So I can't take any measurements.

Oke. thanks anyway Naj.
Anybody else prepared to take some measurements?
-
Really nobody with a 70 or 71 280Sl willing/able to take measurements ??????
Even only the height of the U-bracket would help a lot to get as close to original..
Thanks

I'm about 12,000 miles away from my car, otherwise I'd be happy help ;)

Hello Mark,
It's around 30 millimetres on my 71 280 sl measured from the bottom of the U to the top of the bracket.

Thanks Hans
Do You know if the clamp is riveted to the u bracket or screwed?
Thanks

You can still get the clamps from the classic center I think. Then just weld them in. They should be cheap to buy. I may have a few new small ones for the lug wrench.

Hi, Mark,
The spring clip is riveted to the floor bracket.
The gap under the bracket is for the rivets.
I think the best way to lacate the bracket is to place the jack/rubber mat in position.
Hope these pics will help.

Thank You very much Naj , this is what i needed !!!

I think by the term'' rivets '' you are talking about spot welds?
-
Hi, Dr,
One can see 2 rivet heads in the gap in the spring clip.
Funnily enough, the bracket is spot welded on one of the panels (left in the picture above) and arc or mig welded on the other! We noticed this one three of the cars that were in the body shop that day.

So the spring clip is riveted on to the bracket and the bracket is welded to the floor. Vey anal stuff, when you think about it. :)
