Not sure exactly which one but the sound increases and decreases with speed ....any ideas ?
-
It might have to be a process of elimination.
If you think it’s the tachometer and you have an auto, the cable can be separated from the transmission and the centre cable/wire can be removed for greasing. It’s fiddly but no where near as much work should you have a go from the tacho end.
There are several threads on this subject.

I have thecsame issue on my 280 the whinng comes and goes for no apparent reason my specialist mechanic swears its theccable on the speedo that needs replacing
-
I think this is a common issue. In my case , greasing nor even changing the cable didn't make any difference.
The problem was inside the speedo (or tacho?) itself.
It had to be removed (not an easy job!) and greased and has been running quiet since then.

My experience is the same as Philmas.............greased the internals of the tach and it has been quiet ever since.
