Title: Bud Benz AC
Post by: cbenz1 on August 20, 2012, 15:04:06
So car I purchased in spring came with Bud Benz AC.  I had it charged when I purchased car.  It blows somewhat cold but not ice cold.  Is that normal?  My mechanic said the belt and unit is overtaxed and dont expect too much...

Might be helpful is someone measured the temperature--it isn't a hard thing to do.

These are all relative statements that are hard to really pinpoint.  When compared with a modern car--specifically a modern American car--I would suggest that A/C might not be in the same league.  However, it might very well be performing as designed.  The only way to tell is with some numbers.  Small thermometers to read such things are very cheap and easy to find; air velocity meters are only slightly more difficult to find.

"My [insert brand here] A/C unit blows 62 degree air at 120 feet per minute (or x MPH or whatever scale is appropriate)"

THEN we can determine whose a/c unit is worker better...maybe they are equal?

Maybe the manufacturer or assembler of the system has a set of performance specs?
