Title: Rear light seals
Post by: Larry & Norma on April 05, 2013, 11:23:32
I require some new rear light bezels to body seals:-
Is there much difference between 230 and 280 seals, are they interchangeable?
(My 280 seems to have 230 rear lights ???)
Anyone tried repro seals as supplied by SLS?
Thanks

The seals are both identical, I have used both repro, and original in the past the new reproductions are better made than earlier ones and wouldn't mind using them again.

Larry,
what type of Electrical Socket Plate or Bulb Holder do you have? See: http://www.sl113.org/wiki/Electrical/TailLights
I have used repro seals for the 230SL/early 280SL bulb holder and they work very well.
The seal for the later style (orange/red) tail lights is quite different.

I have the 230 type bulb holder according to the ' Technical Manual'.
It is not the bulb holder seal that I need but the seal that fits between the chrome frame and the car body.
SLS show 2 types the repro ones are >69 model year, will they also fit the earlier lens?
