Title: Windshield Wipers Not Working
Post by: 71Beige280SL on April 29, 2013, 14:42:06
It seems that wiper issues are a recurring theme as we get our cars out for Springtime runs. I have a very unusual issue. I will do my best to describe it in hopes of getting help from the Forum members.

I was driving my car on Friday afternoon. I had the radio on with my iPod plugged in. All good. The car I was following used its windshield washer and the wind brought some washer fluid back on my windshield. I hit the wipers. As I did, the washers stopped mid stroke and the radio went out. Hmmm. I pulled into a parking lot to assess the problem. As I expected, the radio fuse had blown. I carry a spare so I replaced it. Radio works fine again. I checked the wiper motor fuse and it was not blown. I tested the windshield washer and it works fine but, the wipers come up half way and stop. So the washer pump and the wiper motor work. Do I have a relay problem? Anything else I should check?

Sounds like the wiper shafts may be binding, or the wiper linkages are running into something under the dash.

As a follow up. I had my car out yesterday evening. As a test, I turned on the wipers. They came half way up and the radio fuse blew...again. Pulled out another fuse replaced it. Radio works fine AND the wipers are now working.for the time being. I'm not sure what to make of it.
