Title: clip behind the dash-what goes in it?

Having had the speedo refurbed and replacing the speedo cable, I see that there is a cable or wire clip on the right side of the bracket behind the dash. Is the clip supposed to hold the speedo cable on its way to the firewall, or is it for something else?
