Title: Headlight switch lamp
Post by: garymand on May 05, 2014, 20:33:04
Are the newer light switches (with the amber dot) illuminated with a bulb behind the dot?  It is hard to pull the knob off on mine so I don't want to force it unless there is a dead bulb back there.  I've search a little but can't find yeah or neah.

Thanks

I didn't know those headlight switches were used on Pagodas ever, but if they are, the US cars won't have a lightbulb (usually) and the non-US cars will.  The bulb is only illuminated when the foglights are turned on.  My recollection is yes, you just pull the knob straight off.

Hello,

On all Pagoda models the headlight switches don't have internal light bulbs.
However on the 230sl and early 250sl cars the fan switches have a clear plastic center which carries the light from the internal bulb mounted below in the fan switch body.

Actually, I thought that the later 280SL fan switch with the big knob also had the stupid useless light with fiber cable in the center of the knob as well...

Sorry Scoot, they don't.
I would swear that I had come across one that did, but it would have been from a W108....   And I don't think I have it anymore.
