Title: Plug wires

I was going to replace my wires to go with a copper core.  About 10-12 years ago I replaced my wires with a Bosch set.  As I perform my tune up I want to replace the wires (believe they are carbon core).  I have the original set thinking I can get  the correct length and unscrew the terminal and everything can be correct.  Can someone suggest a source for the wires?

Our wires oae solid stranded.  They are not resistance carbon.  If you are going to reuse the ends, just go to an automotive store and have them match up the wire.  They will probably gut it to length for you too.

Thanks for the reply, the replacement wires are carbon that used years ago.  The OEM (original) wires I believe are stranded as you stated.  None the less, looking for something a little more factory / Beru than Napa/Autozone.

I ordered my OEM Beru set of cables and connectors.from the Mercedes dealership and received them the following day.  They have the correct straight connectors.

Hey all, I'm in the process of rebuilding the original wire set that was stored in a box in my dads garage for the last 30 years or so. I remember him changing them out back in the 80's with a Napa set. He not knowing at the time that the plug ends and distributor connectors were replaceable. The plug ends check out but some of the Dist connectors have high resistance or are open. Replacing them all with Beru VESO 105 replacements. Have a new roll of 7mm copper core tinned cable. I ordered a correct Beru G1PK coil boot and got shipped a bag of 35 of them!!??!!??  Has anyone ever measured the length of each bare cable and kept a record of the measurements? I'm pretty sure a few of these have been cut at the plug end and would like to set the length as original as possible. Thanks, Tyler

Looks like you have everything you need Tyler.  I don't have the length of each, but try to find a good original picture to guide you.

Thanks Joe, Thats exactly what I did. Used "49er's" day old pic of his 68. Close enough  ;) Now I just need a dist cap boot to finish it off. The original is pretty crusty.

I think the distributor boot for a 107 is the same part number (others out validate?), might be easier to locate.

Jonny, P# 000 158 2085 (suppressor housing). Makes sense that my car had one from factory. My data card has option code #533 (interference suppression, without radio) Which is why it also had the shielded 5k ohm plug connectors.

Tyler, the old one I took off the 280 SL had two part numbers:

Bosch - 1 235 510 000
MB - 000 158 06 85

Just checked the replacement I found on ebay, which was listed as coming from a 107, but the part numbers are the same. It also has the metal snap connectors along the side.
