Title: Spark plug lead RESISTANCE
Post by: hands_aus on April 13, 2003, 05:19:19
So guys,

After buying those spark plug tops I decided to check my leads and tops.
I found leads/plugs numbers 5 and 6 had almost ZERO resistance and leads/plugs 1- 4 had ONE K Ohm resistance.

My car seems to run OK even with the imbalance.

Given that the majority of plug tops I have are ONE K ohm resistance, should I swap the tops to have all the leads/plugs at ONE K ohm resistance?

Hello Bob,
As long as you do not have too much resistance  you should be fine. Apparently you must have the 1K ohm resistance plastic spark plug wire ends. The later metal ends were 5K resistance.

Hey Joe,
Thanks mate.
The two LOW resistance plug tops are black plastic and the others are reddish brown in colour made of bakelite? The plug tops I bought the other day are reddish brown too.
I will swap them to have them all the same.
