Got together with another local Pagoda owner today.

His black 1969 280SL with mahogany MB tex was purchased new by his father.

Very nice indeed and gives you a good profile of the cleaner lines of the earlier car as Paul Bracq designed it with out bumper over rides and with Euro headlights :o

The cleaner lines... I agree. And if you add the European style headlines the effect is even better...

BTW,
At the Willingen gathering in 2013 (210+cars) the back paint was represented only on one or two cars, which shows how rarely this colour was selected by the initial owners. So getting two Pagodas in one place mustn't happen too often :)

Panzer 82. Do you think the owner would be willing to put together a story about the long term ownership of the car?? These are the kind of rare stories we are looking for for either Pagoda Notes or Pagoda World.

Thanks for sharing ... Very nice photographs .... this kind makes me think what loos better the soft or the hardtop .... I know it's all in the eyes of the beholder :)

Please do talk the long time owner to share his story on this forum with us ... it will make for fascinated reading :)

It was 20 degrees C today here in little London town and I took my 280 for a spin, the plan was to put the hard top on ... then I changed my mind and left the hardtop in the stand ... sorry I took no photo. Will do next drive out :)
