Title: rear axle sealing question.

Hi,
Does anyone know what seals the rear axle where the left side tube meets the center section or in other words where you open it up to gain access to  the ring and pinion?
I am going to go through my rear axle sealing and I just want to get all the proper seals etc before I start.

It is a metal to metal flange connection; use liquid sealant

Recently, my rear axle was rebuilt. A tiny amount of gear oil seeps from this mating surface ever since. Not sure if sealant was used, but should have been.

I've started using Permatex Gray gasket maker. I'm expecting good results.

Have not used the Permatex grey yet.  I have history with Yamabond and Toyota FIPG(formed in place gasket) I think they are probably similar formulations.

I have tried both Permatex grey and Yamabond. I think Yamabond may be a bit better and tougher although similar. Yamabond is harder to get and more $$.

The best sealant I have used for years is MOPAR Gear Sealant Part # 82300234.
It was recommended by a major differential rebuilder in Washington.
I do not at this time remember there name.
They also have a great book on rebuilding rear ends.
But not foreign, but the basics are the same.
This is for metal to metal surfaces.
