Hello,
For my first post, here is few photos, of my 280SL, with two of my kids who just love like me riding this wonderfull 6 cyl.
By the way, I have 3 kids, and that was certainly the last summer we enjoyed to drive all together: my wife, my 11 years twins and my 7 years old boy all accross Paris and its surroundings... 3 in the back, the front seat closed to the front desk... They growing fast by now. 8) So we'll just have to manage it differently.
Thanks to all for this wonderfull place of informations and friendliness.

Bienvenue Herv
!
Your car looks beautiful. Blue with creme interior is my favorite combination. And hopefully children won't give you the idea of getting rid of your Pagoda! My 2 daughters are nearly adults, but sometimes the whole family sits in the car! (well, in fact this doesn't happen very often!)
I was sometimes wondering if I was the only Pagoda driver from France enjoying this site (and others in german or french) on the web.
sl113 is a very nice site with lots of informations in english. Being a member of the club isn't a bad thing. This week, I got for example the club magazine "PAGODA WORLD" which was very interesting.
Welcome again!

Pierre,
Thanks for the wellcome, I got the Pagoda world this week also, and already went through all of it. A good way to increase the passion and the motivation to drive it all the time.

Beautiful car Herv
!
The Group will be launching Spanish-language discussion forums on this same site very soon now. If it is a success (we do have quite a few Spanish-speaking members already) we will probably also add French language sections.

Hello,
I'm thinking to change the soft top, which is more close to light grey with two holes than its original black color.
but It is still an original top.
Can anyone tell me what's best and bring better value to the car:(I read several post about judges here)
1) Keep the original, but apply some repainting product to retrieve the black color. An idea for this kind of product? then fix the holes and change the polyglas shield.
2) Or change it . In that case which color best suit with DB931 body color?

Herve,
what color code does your data plate show? I thought DB 931 (magnetite blue metallic) was used 1975 to 1979, and not on the W113.

Herve's car is the same color as the featured car pictured on the home page. Peter's car was changed from green to blue. Also check out the December issue of Hemmings page 515 and there is yet another car a '69 California coupe finished in the same magnetite blue. But I believe you're right that this color not being original to the 113.

I live in France and have a US1970 280SL. It's been in the family since 1980. I look forward to hearing from any other members in the area. Is there a Pagoda Club in France?

Frank,
Hello and welcome! Sure there is, us! Click on the "Members" link on the top right corner of this screen. Sort it by Country and go to page 14. There are French members listed on pages 14 & 15. Click on each Member Name and send them an e-mail introducing yourself. Perhaps some will reply who are near you. We also have many members of this Group in Spain and The Netherlands.
Here's to finding new Pagoda friends!

Sorry to respond so late, my plate indicates 180 : silver gray, my car was repainted, if fact, if someone could confirm to me which code is my blue I will love it, I'm thinking a complete repainting next year and hesitate to turn it back to its original silver gray, this metalic blue that I really envoy or a darker blue.

Herve,
I don't recognize the blue your car was repainted, so I'm not sure it's a factory color.
On another subject, is that a 5-speed?

How about planning a meeting in the event forum? Then you can share more pictures of your cars with us!

I was told it's a mercedes factoty color, but no problem. About the gear, this is a manual 4 speed gear box. The 1st is really short, but the 3rd and 4th : a real pleasure. Herv

It looks like your kids like your pagoda. You will have to get them one each :) My white 280sl is already owned by my youngest daughter who is 6. I told her that I will give her the car when I can no longer drive it :) Maybeinthe next 40 years when I am 80 hahah :)
cheers

Hello Herv
,
Great pictures. Now you will have to do some modifications to your SL. Probably will have to cut it right behind the seats and then add an extension to allow more legroom for your growing family. You might have the first true 2+2 sl with legroom to go with it.

My daughter say a very stretched corvette over the weekend maybe you can get someone to modify a Pagoda. In the 80's I owned a Triumph Stag which was a 2 + 2. Great for our beginning famiy. The two tops were very similar in function to the Pagoda. Its ownership led in part to the decision to look for a Pagoda. Only this time I "might" have grandchildren to take for a ride.

Hi Herve,
As for the space in the garage, a friend of mine installed 2 lifters in his garage giving him access to 2 more spaces.
As for my other kids and my cars, as I mentioned the SL already belongs to my youngest daughter. I also have a w111 280se cabriolet that now belongs to my other daughter 9 year old daughter bianca. She feels like a princess everytime she rides the car. Now all I need is 1 for my 14 year old son. He is not into vintage cars so my lowlight 1958 Karmann ghia is out of the question. I'll let you know what I finally get one of these years.Of course they won't get these vintage cars until I really can't use it anymore :)
Warm regards,
Joel-j
