Title: 1966 Mercedes 230SL power steering shaft
Post by: Henry52 on July 18, 2016, 05:39:34
Hi All

I am trying to upgrade my manual steering to power steering but found my current steering shaft is a little too long. Does anyone happen to know the exact length of the lower power steering shaft and where can I buy one? My current steering shaft comprises two shafts joined by a universal joint.
Thanks
Henry

Hi Henry,

You can buy one here:

Henry,
you will also need a different Pitman arm!
I bought the arm and the shorter spindle from ai-Motors and both fit perfectly.

Or you can just modify what you have. (At least, here in the UK you can legally do it).

Stick,
how do you modify the Pitman elbow and arm length?
Compare the mechanical and power steering Pitman arms ID #121 and ID #216!
