Does anyone have an opinion on whether the 280SL 82-liter tanks can be made to fit into a 230SL that had a 65-liter tank?

I replaced my original 230 tank with the later/ larger OEM tank. (late 230 model that already had the horizontal spare.)  I had it done by a local shop but as I recall the only issue was relocating the fuel pump slightly.  No regrets!!

If I had an early 230 model with the vertical spare I don't think I would have attempted the change.

Does anybody know if the fuel pickup and sender from my old 65-liters tank can be used on the new (and possibly deeper) tank?

The gauge sending unit is the same. There is no pickup to replace or change over. It is part of the tank. "Flower Pot"

Thank you.  My old one was too far gone so I've ordered a new one.

BTW, the larger 82-liter gas tank fit just fine.
