Ran across this on youtube regarding w113 Decal placement.

Would be good to read comments from our members on accuracy etc. Is this guy a member here?

I just watched the video - couple of comments
Overall good to see, and I like the statements he makes about "Haphazard placement" that was directly in regard to the ATE sticker on the brake booster. But I think it applies in other places, where we sometimes get overly compulsive about the "exact" placement. The snowflake, the rear differential change for example.
On the relay boxes with the silver foil, I believe there are different stickers based on auto or manual tranny (check out Authentic Classics, he has a number of these stickers and the different versions).
I was unclear on the placement of the soft top instructions. It looked as though he was placing them on the well panel that is on the exterior side of the car??
I have usually seen the tire change hang tag on the left side, not the right.
Not sure about the oil level decal. I thought it was added for the later cars. I sure his question about why the heck would an oil level decal be on the interior of the trunk lid??

Because an owner in 1970 most likely opened her/his trunk more often than the hood.
Now of course gear heads can't wait to check something, anything under the hood. :D

My comments are based on my 280SL-007749- manufactured in January 1969. I agree that some decals were placed in a somewhat haphazard way. The decal on the brake booster on my car is even lower down under the front side of the drum. The red tire pressure decal, the only decal in the trunk except for the jack decal, is not centered on the lid. If there was a hanging tag in the trunk, mine is long gone. Will check my document file! I have no oil fill level decal. Neither do I have a differential oil level decal. I do have a hanging tag that was originally in the engine compartment regarding the generator and which I removed some years ago before it completely fell apart
The camera work was jerky but I though I saw one frame with the soft top instructions correctly placed. I think he then showed it being placed on the outboard side of the compartment. My electrical components under the hood have no decals but rather have diagrams stamped on them. The coil decal is just below the top rim facing the engine. The decal on the generator is fairly low on the outboard side of the generator and can not be completely viewed from above. My snowflake departed with the original windshield some years ago.
A few pictures follow:

I watched it for a minute ... got dizie and stoped the video ~grin~

PS. Have no need to add any of those decals, if I need to know I have the manual, :)

There are several different relays under the hood, the aluminum bodied ones, as Ralph shows, with the diagram stenciled on top (the stencils are available from several of the usual vendors - but are a bit of a pain to re-apply). The foil stickers are for the later cars that have the transistorized ignition.
Very interesting hang tag about the elecricals. I had not seen that one before!
The soft top instructions, are as Ralph's car shows, on the inner panel, so you can see it when you open the top case.

For completeness, here is the other side.

I agree with 66andblue about the trunk oil check decal. When I was a mechanic I always made a label for the inside of the trunk lid for important things like when the timing belt is due. On my families cars I write the oil change mileage on the corner of the rear view mirror with a sharpie. Makes perfect sense to me.
