Does anyone know if the turn stalk only is available? The stalk i have has the plastic end broken off. Aside from that the switch was working fine. I was hoping to repair the end but i can't seem to find parts versus finding the whole unit. Has anyone fitted an updated turn stalk into the old switch? It seems like a doable thing aside from the wires needing to be sorted for operation. Thank you

I just replaced the entire 230SL multi-function switch assembly. I too had a broken plastic end only. My impression is that there are only two alternatives. The entire original VDO-made assembly (the one without the lettering on the plastic part) is available from Mercedes-Benz and the entire reproduction who-knows-made assembly is available at a lower cost from some of the other usual suppliers but with white lettering on the plastic part that describes the functions (lots of little white arrows and text). They are all expensive, but it is a complicated part with lots of functions.
I doubt that individual sub-assembly pieces are available other than from a junk yard (recycling center to be P.C.).

Hi Jesse,
By 'updated turn stalk', I assume you mean a later 280SE(108) stalk into an early Pagoda switch.
Bear in mind that the Pagoda switch is much more petit than the sedan switch, further more the functions are different. The Pagoda dip switch is on the floor, etc.
However, it is possible fitting a 108 switch in a 113, I bought my 67 250SL with a 280SE stalk but many of the functions did not work propery and the switch was to big and looked very much out of place.
I agree with Tom. I also had to bite the bullet and buy a new one from Mercedes. It took me days to undo the mess with the wiring and restore all the standard functions.

Well i fall victim to the turn stalk. Got one off the internet for a good penny. I guess that is the price you pay to have nice. Well on to more things. Thanks for the help.
