What is the red piece that is pointing to the floor?
It looks unattached, but welded to the body...?

yes--from the side, it looks like its hanging but based on your image it looks correct

Besides what Peter H writes; this is at the same time the mount for the side support strut. This is what decides the position of your whole chassis front end, sideways

It is useful to exchange the rubber bushings at each end of this strut
