Does anyone have a listing of the correct Bosch part number for the Cold Start valve on 1970 280SL,
or have a 280SL valve they can check? I have one with Bosch P/N 0 437 900 009 on the casting but i'm not sure its correct.
The part number on the one I removed from the engine is completely illegible
Thanks,
George Katsoris

I checked the engine parts book for the M129 engine, and the M130 engine
For the 250 SL - 000 071 25 37
For the 280 SL
Manual up to engine number 5135, and up for the automatic to engine 8388 - the same number as above
After those engine numbers the part: 000 071 30 37

Thank you. Do you know the Bosch Part number this relates to? The valve its not marked with
the MB part number, only the Bosch Number, that's my problem.

Try this: http://www.bosch-automotive-catalog.com/pl/product-search
This is link for pl (Poland). You can skip the Polish extension or chose your language where it says "polski".
You put Mercedes number in External number. May need to experiment formats of numbers: with or without "A", with or without spaces between digits.
You may start with putting in car model - then you can get a list of all items Bosch supplied for given car.
I tried just to check the part number for you, but the site was not working, tonight, properly, it could not find anything, but normally it works.

Here is a site in the US, for Bosch Classic it did not have listing for the number you supplied
http://www.bosch-classic.com/en/internet/bosch_classic/produkte/motor_1/startventil/startventil_1.html. I did not poke around but you might want to give it a look.
I did take a look at the cold start valve on my 280 SL - 0437900009, engine number 8153

George,
according to the Bosch equipment list the csv for a 280SL is Bosch "Startventil" p/n 0 437 900 05 (see attached 280SL.pdf)
I searched the http://www.bosch-classic.com/en/internet/bosch_classic/technisches_archiv/technisches_archiv_uebersicht.html
for info on the part that you show but did not get a direct hit. It appears that this is not a csv for a Mercedes car but for some unknown other car:
Attached is 0437900.pdf which does list the p/n xxx 009 as a "Startventil vollständig" (complete csv).
Unfortunately the more complete 0437900002.pdf document shows for Mercedes car p/n xxx 002 - xxx 006, for Porsche xxx 007, 010, 021, 023
I also tried to look up the p/n for the magnet but am not sure whether p/n 0 330 106 004 is correct, the numbers are a bit difficult to read. See b&w photo.
Hope this helps a bit.

Alfred, your number is almost correct. Bosch numbers are 10 digit numbers. You were just missing one more zero before 5 at the end.
So the number is: 0 437 900 005.
The site I quoted started working. :D
It does find the part no. 0 437 900 005.
When you get into W113 280SL Bosch equipment list for this car on this page, it does list this part for this car as Cold Start Valve.
http://www.bosch-automotive-catalog.com/en/internet/ECAT-RS/vehicle-info/-/vehicle/equip/MB/853/a92uk93ul5eij1fmu94pjm7g2k2phiin
So it all does match, this is the number.

Pawel,
thanks for correcting my typo, fortunately the PDF is correct. ;)
It would be interested to see whether your site finds the number the George posted: 0 437 900 009

Yes, it does. This is the Cold Start Valve, Mercedes PN A 000 071 30 37. When you check in EPC it was installed in engines 130983 for the USA market.

Hi Pawel,
not sure what magic you did to get ALL the Bosch sites working again. ;D
I have just checked the Bosch Classic site again, first using the MB p/n and then the Bosch p/n and now i get the same info that you did!
At least George should have all what he wanted to know.
-
They have a lot of info there, actually, especially if you put in your car details. They are just hard to find a bit...
I think they must have had some technical break or update and they were not working properly a few hours ago.
The only issue is that it says "discontinued" next to most of the parts.

Thanks for all the help everyone!!
From what i'm seeing in your posts and on the Bosch Website the CSV I have ending in 009 was in fact fitted to later 280SL models, the Bosch PDF
for this part shows the equivalent MB part number as 000 071 30 37.

Yes, it was. If you do the search in EPC you will find out it was installed in the 280SL for the US market as of engines:
983 10/50 005136
983 12/52 008389
