I have a long term messy engine leak which I am trying resolve.
Found the starter cable bracket (which is meant to be mounted on the power steering bracket) to be loose and it looks like the bolt for this bracket is missing. This is also appears to be an external head bolt :( Hence the leak.
Please see pic of (messy) current situation, and the missing bolt.
I assume this is the allen bolt that I have highlighted [CORRECTED] on a pic I found herein of a nice clean engine.
(Note the power steering pump is secured via other brackets, and start cable is solidly secured by other brackets - so car runs ok)
It is a mystery why the bolt missing - the engine has not had a rebuild that I am aware - and is runs well.
Question: Can someone tell me the specs of this missing bolt so I can get a replacement?

I cleaned up the area a bit and here is another pic of the location where the bolt appears to be missing. Looking to find out size/type of that missing bolt. Searching other posts I think it may be an M8, but need thread and length.
I had identified the wrong position on the pristine engine pic in the previous post - I have updated that pic.

Try M8x10 or M8x15 from Home Depot. The bracket is not thicker than 3mm so you should have enough to engage without bottoming out. If you are holding the cable bracket too you may need the 15 length. Pull another bolt that you can measure and try it in to make sure it's M8. I don't think it's M6, power steering bolts are quite beefy.

You want as many threads as you can get there. Mine was stripped out and I had to repair the upper pan(hopefully your's isn't stripped too). Measure from the top surface of the bracket to the bottom of the upper pan. The threads go right through the upper pan.
M8 x 1.25 x 25mm long but it needs to have threads the entire way to the head.
