Hello,
Can anyone educate on these headlights ebay item 4517713393. I have been told they are for early 280sls and 250's. I have a later 280sl 1971 and would not want to buy if incorrect for my car. I have only seen them on three 1969 280sls! Any correct knowledge would be appreciated on ebay item number 4517713393. Jason

Jason,
I believe there are several different style of US spec headlight, but the biggest difference has to do with the connections and fit to deal with the side marker lights. The fog lights, the ones integral to the headlight unit, did not change in appearance (from the front) until later in the 280 series (need verification from the group on this). I think there were three different versions, and there should be a small mark on the unit, AN AJ AD or something like that? More input needed on this.
You might also want to send a question to the ebay seller, to see if they can provide any further information about the codes.

Yes Jonny B is correct--there are three US spec headlights available and they do have that designation. Search the Yahoo archives I think I detailed all of it and what the differences are. I do know that the "backs" are not interchangable; only the latest version has the jack to plug in the front side markers.

Hello all,
Searched the web and found my anwser, these fog lights were put on us cars until 1969 when mbz switched over to all amber bottom parking/turn lights with not center fog/driving lights. Many thanks all for help. Jason
