Is there a trick to get this vertical bracket out of the body of the car?
The rest of the axle is loosened, only that bracket is still in place.
It is stuck in a rubber mount and no matter how much force I use, it stays in place.

Not an uncommon problem. Spray it with some penetrant, screw the bolt back in half way, smack it a few times with a heavy mallet on the side or top of the bolt.

Indeed I sprayed a lot of WD40 on it twice today just before I stopped working.
Sunday I'll try again.

Use a penetrant, not WD40. PlusGas if you can find it. WD40 belongs on the shelf in the shop.

I've had to cut a hole in the bottom of the hatch cover tray on one of my cars and then hit the vertical pin with a punch using a large hammer. Not for the faint of heart and not for customers either. Only thing that would work.
I had to use heat on a 4.5 axle which kind of set things on fire :o but it was a parts car so it was no big deal. 8)
