There is a '66 230SL on BaT that is a two tone Anthracite Grey with Black hard top and caps. I have never seen this colour combination before and think it would look great. Does anyone out there have this combination and can they post pictures. Hard to tell from the BaT pictures as the car is in pretty rough condition.

The paint on the BaT car is not original anymore.

Ya, I wasn't relying on the BaT photo's. I just think it is a rare colour combination that I expect looks really good. Just wanted to know if any members had this combination and if so post some pictures.

Here is my 280SE (not SL) in Anthracite grey DB173. It is a rare color.

A little off topic, but I was playing around one day when I had 2 SLs. I put the 906 roof on the 173, Anthracite Grey body and this is what I got. Not an original "normal" combo from Mercedes and I seriously doubt anyone would have ordered it that way, but it was fun to see what it looked like. I do love two tone cars and grey with a black top would look smashing!

I like it. Really! Looks classy.
You can never say what customers would have ordered.
The prefernces change so much. I am looking for a new (to me) car right now and the model I want seems to be available only in black, grey or white...It is lamost like the manufacturer got a deal on these boring colors...

yes....sorry the hardtop stays off but it is black
-
That car is painful to look at... the BaT one...
I'm also confused.. unless you steal a nice one and swap the VINs, this will take $100k to look decent...?

Do you have any pictures of your car with the hardtop in place? The car looks black in your picture.

This is my car with anthracite grey (DB 173). Sorry no black hardtop. Hardtop is also anthracite grey, so are the hubcaps (if installed).

Not long ago I had to collect the recently restored Dark Red Hardtop and figured it was best undertaken using my Grey Blue 280SL as a carrier.
This is the effect of this combination. Dark Red over Greg Blue (N.B: the hub caps are darker blue as the Blue car is a Two Toned anyway)
