Title: Alternator Bracket Mounting
Post by: Harry on February 09, 2020, 23:51:11
I am trying to recall how the alternator bracket mounts and some photos/assistance would be appreciated.  It is a three point mount with these points:
1 - Intake/exhaust side of the head at the hex spacer extension that comes off of the Chain tensioner (left side of tensioner)
2 - Front of head just below the coolant bleed line, and
3 - Lower bolt for the water pump

But spacers are required and I'm not sure about those.  The pictures below show some spacers that resmeble the limited photos I have during disassembly but I can't quite get the fit that I would like to using those.

And BTW - the middle spacer in the photo is actually threaded on the inside.  I do not recall where that might have come from (although it may become apparent during the complete reassembly of the engine peripherals).

The last photo shows an elongated tube that must have been a spacer as well, and a rubber grommet/doughnut?

Your assistance/photos are always appreciated!

Oops - it is the spacer on the left that is threaded.

Looks like a non-original bracket.

Joe - I should have noted that this is for the upper mounting.  It has A/C and the compressor is in the lower position.  I have some disassembly photos but as I said, I'm not totally happy with fitment based on what I think I see.  Thanks for looking, though.

Otherwise, did any of the spacers or the rubber piece ring a bell?

Just choose the right amount of spacers to align v-belt grooves and limit fore and aft movement of the alternator. Some alternators have a different width at the hinge-bolt.
