Title: 15 inch steel wheels
Post by: Bruce Rudin on April 01, 2020, 16:13:44
I have been looking forever for a set of steel wheels from a 600. I have the correct 15 inch hubcaps to use on my 113.  The wheels are 15x6.5, 5x112, offset 30mm and a center bore of 66.1.

Brand new wheels from mercedes for a 1998 C280 are
15x6.5
5x112
37mm offset
66.1 center bore.

$94 each.

Since the hunt for the 600 wheels seems to be a grail search, is there something I am missing here with the new wheels?
It seems the easiest solution.  I can't imagine the 7mm offset difference matters, but the extra inch of rim width might.

Did you buy the C280 wheels from them or the 600 wheels?
Your car is beautiful!!!

I wouldn't look for or buy 600 wheels because they have larger holes for the wheel studs to accommodate larger lug nuts that hold the wheel on.

During your search don't rule out W108, W114/W115, and very late W110 and W111 sedans.  A lot of those came with 15" wheels, but more so in Europe.  Maybe knowing that will help, or maybe not.

As for wheel bolts I had to get different ones for the ATS bundt style alloys.

Tomorrow morning I'll take a look at the wheels and give your a part number.

Much appreciated. The Mercedes parts center has 2 of those C280 wheels listed as available worldwide.  That seems insane as they were used on about a dozen different models.

What size and brand tires do you use?  I have had good experience with Vredesteins on other period cars of mine, but open to the best selection.  Did you lower your car at all?

Stamped on the MB steel wheel is the following.

622 2A  ET25 7Jx 15H2 1264002802

Yes I have corrected the part number, thanks Dan for pointing that out.

My Flickr has both ATS and full 15" hubcaps pictured.

I think you might be missing one number.   Might read as PN: 126 400 28 02

ET 25 is the offset = 25 mm
7 J  is the width of the rim in inches = 7 inches
15 H2 is the size of tire you would use = 15 inch

Jeff, what size tires are you running on those 15" wheels?  I like the profile and stance.

Jeff, is your cat lowered at all or is the stance secondary to the wheel and tire change alone?  It looks great.
