Thanks to Bob Smith for prompting this question and hopefully saving me a bundle. I have an older style fuel pump that is leaking (more like seeping). Is there a seal kit that anyone knows of to remedy this? Where to start looking?
Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,
You might want to click on the user ID "George Des" and send him an e-mail, he said he's rebuilt 25 of them and he's located in the USA like we are.

It's apparently a big month for fuel pumps to bite the dust, as I'm dealing with the same thing. Check out this link on Pagoda133.com:

A lot of good advice. Mine may be leakage from behind the power terminals on the pump. Will find out within a couple days.
Good luck,

Hey Roadstir,
What are you planning to do about the broken terminal block?
Maybe they are available as repros.
The central screw looks to create a weak point in the block.

Let me know the ease of this project as I believe I need to rebuild mine as well.

It turned out to be EXTREMELY easy. I ordered a rebuilt unit from STAR Motors (300sel.com) for $300.00. I chickened out on the rebuild as I couldnt picture being out with the wife and having the pump I rebuilt let go (20 years of marriage has made me very wise). The one year warranty helped too.

Ahhhh. Eureka!
My shop called and said that the newly rebuilt pump I gave them had no pressure and was making a swueaking noise. I called the shop back and suggested that since the car had "bled out" of fuel because of the leak, that maybe there wasn't enough fuel hitting the pump and it was not priming. Well, I got a sheepish sounding phone call this afternoon saying that I could come pick up my vehicle.
Apparently, they had reversed the leads and the pump was running backwards. My visions of having to buy a new pump faded, happily. They did replace all the fuel lines from the tank to the pump with new MB hose. And they also put in a new fuel filter I supplied. The mechanic said that it did seep a little in the beginning, but stopped. He said the o-rings probably seated themselves after a couple of minutes. As for the leaking, George Des' suugested lubing the terminal posts with Seal All before reaasembling. Great idea!T otal garage bill is $233.
I agree with you on the single screw thing. Seems strange for the usually anal German engineers to design it with a central screw that would apply torque asymetrically.
