Hi all,
Hope everyone is doing well in isolation.
Just don't let working from home turn into this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azr5eOKiXCA (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azr5eOKiXCA)
After determining that my temperature probe/gauge is not working, I've removed the central instrument cluster with the connector to the coolant temp probe, but the firewall grommet for the cable has deteriorated completely. Does anyone know the part number for this rubber, please? I checked the EPC but can't find the right category.
Thanks!

Try Group 54 Electrical Equipment and Instruments.
I would give you PN, but I do not remember which one it is exactly...

Hello GM
I have spent hours trying to figure out where each firewall grommet goes since i will be installing a new set, hopefully in the not too distant future. I am quite certain that the part number you need is 110 997 07 81. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I can confirm. This grommet has two holes. I believe that the upper hole is for the temperature sensor and the lower is for the tachometer cable. Again, hopefully someone else can confirm.
-
Here is a set with all the part numbers. I think you need a 2 hole grommet but can't remember exactly which one.
Google the PN's until you find the one you want.

Hi,
maybe you can identify want you need here:
- https://www.sls-hh-shop.de/main/en/54-elektrical-equipment-at-body-54rubber-grommets-c-3_2339_133 and
- https://nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/epc/mercedes/1/fg/113044/249/54/001/

There is more sources like that:
https://www.sls-hh-shop.de/main/en/54-elektrical-equipment-at-body-54rubber-grommets-c-3_2339_133
but in none of them you have detailed descriptions. I guess you know which grommet you are replacing, so you can figure out form the EPC picture which one it is.
The one with two holes (as on the picture) is indeed A 110 997 07 81, but the EPC says "speedometer and tachometer shafts through firewall". Two of them are in the car. That is why I was not sure...
-
Hi,
rubber grommets for firewall openings
- 3: tachometer cable and temperature gauge line and
- 4: speedo cable and oil pressure line
are the same: rubber grommet with 2 holes.

Two hole firewall grommet 😁

Clear! :)
To be precise and to avoid confusion:
A 110 997 03 81, 1 pc needed, is for RHD.
A 110 997 07 81, 2pcs needed is for LHD.
I am not sure if the one for RHD is available.
The LHD one is ca $12.

Wre:
How about translating to English the 10 positions.

Wow - awesome help, everyone! Thanks so much.
Thanks WRe for the engine bay hole location/identification photo!
Interesting on mrfatboy's post from Authentic Classics and eBay, both photos show the number on the part itself ending in "...87" not "...81," yet the Authentic manufacturer number is identified as 110 997 0781
The adventure continues.

81 it is.
Buy rubber from Mercedes. I see it so often, people buy things in internet stores: it is more expensive (with the price I have here in MB, not sure in the US) in the Authentic Classic than in Mercedes. A lot of people think by default that Mercedes must be more expensive... well, not always true.
And you may find that there are markings on originals...and they look a bit different, etc. and they are usually good quality.

Thanks, Pawel - and thanks for your contributions to this thread

Thanks for the new English version.

Double Voilà!
Added to the Tech Manual ;D

Very useful, thank you!

Thanks mrfatboy for the addition. I did have to move it... we have a section in Chassis / Body for the firewall, and I moved the content there.
https://www.sl113.org/wiki/ChassisBody/Firewall
If you think to feel the need to create a completely new section (as you did, not just once but twice ;)) think again, because if the topic is not a headline topic, it belongs under some other category.

Thanks Peter. I accidentally created two topics because I changed the name. I didn't know how to delete the first one.
I also noticed when I uploaded the picture it did not give me the option to select from existing photos on the server. The list was missing.
I'm still learning the system 😁

Mr fatboy
Thanks !

I've purchased the firewall grommets except for #6. Below are the part numbers that correspond with WRE's chart with two exceptions. First, I am not 100% sure I have the correct part number for item number six (hence the question mark). Second, WRE's chart shows as number 8 the inlet and outlet for the heater core which is correct. However the grommets are different.
Grommet
Location Part Number
0 183 997 00 81
1 N/A
2 N/A
3 110 997 07 81
4 110 997 07 81
5 113 292 00 97
6 110 997 12 81?
7 111 997 13 81
8 113 997 00 81 (left)
8 113 997 01 81 (right)
9 113 987 24 44
I know part numbers change from time to time so not too sure if this should be made permanent but maybe will help someone else. I can't justify the expense of access to the EPC so matching the grommet to the hole was a bit tricky. If I have mis-identified any, feel free to correct.

For 113 044 part list:
No. 6 Washer liquid hose, hood release cable
A 110 997 10 81 as of chassis 09896 LHD
A 110 997 03 81 up to chassis 09895 LHD
A 110 997 03 81 RHD
This grommet is in part list for Group 88 Chassis Sheet Metal, Subgroup 001 Attachment Parts, not Group 54 as most of them are.
For the heater lines
No. 8 A 113 997 01 81 Feed Line
No. 9 A 113 997 00 81 Return Line
These grommets are on part list for Group 83 Heating and Ventilation, Subgroup 001 Heating and Ventilation.
You may want to place your descriptions in the Tech Manual, it is very helpful indeed.

Fantastic, thank you!

Tech manual updated 👍

I think this is a valuable material, thank you.

Just wanted to add my thank you. Very helpful

Could somebody update the tech manual please? It's a task beyond my capabilities.
The part number for the square grommet under the wiper motor is A0009870415
I see that a lot of people have been asking for this over the years.
