Title: Another ebay special
Post by: Kenneth Gear on April 05, 2005, 08:15:40
Check out this car, he claims to have paid $18.5K and spent another $52K on restoration!

It amazes me that someone asking top dollar (Buy it Now set for $35K) doesn't even take the time to clean of the layer of dust that is accumlated on the interior or pull it outside to take the pics.  How did the dust get there if the car is always garaged and kept covered?  Hhmmmmm

You would be surprised how dust gets everywhere!!! :)

Probably hardly ever uses it, so wonder how it runs? I certainly would want to test drive it BEFORE spending that kind of money (not that I have that kind of money ;) )

That signal red SL has been discussed here before. It's been on the block on ebay more than once.

BTW, did you notice that green one in Maine is back too?

This car strikes me as questionable.

But if it really were a fine example of a 280SL then the pricing trend line of W113s would be flat as a pancake.  The dollar figure of $35K for good ones has been around for many years.

We all love these cars.  And as mentioned previously I intend to keep mine forever (already owned it for 20 years)...but I'm getting tired of teenagers driving around in cars more valuable than a decent W113.

I repeat the often-quoted comment that I got from many restorers when originally were questioned regarding my car...
