Title: Vacuum adjustment
Post by: mulrik on April 05, 2005, 14:14:58
I just found out that my 051 distributor retards the ignition to much. How do I adjust it? Do I shorten or lengthen the connecting rod inside the distributor or do I adjust it on the bolt that sits at the end of the vacum unit (where the pointer saying "unterdruckdose" is pointing to)????

Mulrik,

you need to adjust the connecting rod inside the distributor.

The adjustment is pretty easy once you have the vacuum unit removed from the distributor.  I made a 1 degree change, and it seems to me that it took one full turn of the rod.  The hex bolt on the end of the vacuum unit is just a closing cap.
