Title: Bilstein shocks source

Hello guys , I just bought 5 new shocks for my 250sl . I decided to invest this money and have probably the best choice in the market , bilstein . I bought from mbclassic.de in Germany , have you ever bought from them this shocks ? They have probably the best price in Europe around 139€ each .
No complains ?

I usually try Rockauto first here in the US. if they have it I find their prices quiet good. then if not I try AutohousAZ.

@ Pinder. Me too. After Rock Auto, I usually try RM European. As a matter of fact, I bought a set of Bielsteins recently around $75-80 each.
(However, shipping to Europe will probably kill the better price.)

Besides Germany, Bilstein has four manufacturing facilities in the USA, with one here in Ohio. I am not sure which models they produce here, but pricing seems good here if you shop around on the internet. Their shock absorbers are warrantied for the life of the original purchaser.

I replaced the Bilstiens on my car during the restoration "Just because".  After 50 years the original (assembly line markings intact) ones had not leaked a drop and still worked fine.  So many tire stores etc in the US try to sell you new shock absorbers because, "They only last 40,000 miles." When in fact the original shocks on most European cars will outlast the tire store replacements.  At least the ride will suck.

We talk about Bilsteins for the Pagoda as all being the same. Aren't there different types, or is there just the one?

In USA they seem to be cheaper than Europe , I don’t know why.
This is another interesting issue, is there only a single type of bilstein for our pagodas?
Do we have proof that the W113 came with gas filled bilstein since 1963? I’ve read different opinion about that .

Yes just one type Bilstein for the Pagoda, that is one type for the fronts of all Pagodas and one type for the rear of all Pagodas. If you look in your Factory Technical Data Booklet, you will see that the Bilstein gas filled shock is listed as an original brand from the factory.
