I have a spare used booster for my late 250 SL and want to get it rebuilt.
I did a search and mostly I found people asking the same question.
Anyone know of a good rebuilder on the east coast/
thanks,

I have heard about these guys also.

If you ship it pack it well. The plastic sleeve on the rod side of the booster is no longer available. If it gets broken it is game over.

What, if anything, did you end up doing?

Above described is very important. I broke mine during shipping. My booster however was rebuild locally in LA. Don't have the website but can get you a phone # if needed.

Dirk,
A phone number would be appreciated. I’m in San Diego.
How satisfied were you? Approximate cost?

Once you box it up whether you send it 500 miles on the east coast or 3000 miles to the west coast cost to ship is probably not much different. I sent mine to Power Brake Exchange in San Jose, CA. http://www.pwrbrake.com/ 408-292-1305. I think it total cost was about $350 or so which included the cost of shipping it back but you might want to confirm today's cost. Have heard good things about Apple Hydraulics.
Wherever you ship it, be sure to follow Shvegel's advice.

Bob,
I used the same company as Lee but their LA / Santa Fee Springs location. The guy to talk to is Luis @ 562-756-3727. As mentioned, my plastic sleeve broke during shipping. Luis called me and told me he might be able to get a replacement out of Arizona. That one came in broken as well. After that, I worked with him and I made a new sleeve. He has a (vacuum) test stand and the booster tested well. (My car is not running yet)
To answer you question, I like working with them. Very helpful. I think he originally quoted me a couple of hundred bucks for a straight rebuild.

Macro, I am still driving around with manual brakes and standing on that brake pedal, but my expert MB repair guy has a rebuilt booster for me that he will install this fall. He had 2 boosters that I believe he had rebuilt at White Post.

Zak,
Any chance you vacuum check valve in the booster hose is backwards? If vacuum isn't getting to the booster it doesn't work.

Thanks Shvegel, but no. My expert 113 mechanic, Jaime Kopchinski checked it out and determined that the booster is bad and needs to be rebuilt.
