I know this is mundane, but I'm missing several screws and don't know how to determine original specs.
a) Can anyone help with size/specs of the screws and collars used to secure the glove box to the dash (I have none at all)?
b) What about the chrome screws that secure the chrome/door weather striping? It seems someone just put some wood screws in there...
What is a reliable source to secure these type of screws?

You could check with Gernold or a restoration shop that has done a few of these Pagodas. Brian at Motoringinvestments has done quite a bit of restoration jobs on our cars.

Hi Chris,
I am also interested in what you find out. I have spent many hours searching local hardware stores for these small chrome trim screws. Have come close, but never exact.
Let me know what you find out.
Thanks!

I believe some of these are still available from the factory as I have a small bag of screws that has a part number on them that I ended up with. I'll dig the bag up on Sunday and post the part #.

Probably many of the USA parts suppliers on our database. Here are a few:
Caliber Motors (MB Dealer)
SL Barn (Dan Coron, Benz Dr.)
SL Classic (Ray Paul)
SL Tech (Gernold)
S&S Imports (Will Samples)
The MB Spare Parts List book is great - has every nut and bolt listed with part numbers. I highly recommend them to everyone.

I would agree with Rodd regarding the parts book. They are a bit pricey, but a fabulous reference book. They are available from MB and you can find them every now and then on e-bay. Remember there are two types, one with the pictures and a single/double reference number and no MB part number. And the big book with all the part numbers (no engine however)in three languages.

Maybe it's particular to the 230SL book, but this book has all engine parts. Pistons, connecting rods, crank shaft, cam shaft, valve train, and all related parts inside and out.

Interesting, maybe they decided to make a change from the 230SL book??

Here's another test case> What screws are needed for the three-piece under the dash cardboard panels? (since I am missing 2/3s of the panels, I have no clue about the screws)

Thanks Rodd,
Now I want to be sure we are talking about same thing: the three removable vinyl/cardboardish panels that tuck under dash, correct?
Reason I am asking is, I've asked about this before and people thought I meant the actual dash under side. Are you now really confused?
The ones I am talking about screw to under dash and to firewall. They cover wires, etc. Thanks again.

James,
Some cars have push clips and washers to hold the card board panels to the fire wall. My hardware picture #2, top 2 items in the right hand column.
I believe cupped washers are used with screws under the dash similar to the ones in picture #1, bottom left.

Well I decided to have a look. Many of the screws are still there -- even if the panels are not. It does appear that there are 7 front screws that hold on the panels, as Rodd's info suggested. Problem is, the screws seem a little hodge-podge. Only one had a cupwasher. Can anyone say that these look like the right ones? (oh, and had to fire the photographer...)

I suggest ordering the 7 screws/washers brand new with the below part numbers. Putting my panels back on is on my long to-do list for June. (May is yard landscaping and house cleaning.) I'll probably be ordering screws. Now, all the 280SL owners out there should probably look at your parts books to see if your hardware is different.

Hello Naj,
Are these MB part numbers?
As I am putting my car back together, I am replacing many of the small screws. Looking for the "correct" sizes, types, chrome, ss, etc...
By chance, do you or any others have a list of the small screws for the 113's and their part numbers, sizes, etc...?
Thanks!
Bob :)

Thought I would share my experience.
I went through the same things with my car. My interior was apart when I got the 230 from my father. I had unorganized and unmarked bags of screws and bolts. It was a mess. I wanted all the correct hardware to go in all the right places. There was a gentlemen at Bud's Benz, I can't recall his name, but he is the interior guy at their shop.
I was able to get answers to my questions and source just about everything I needed (special screws washers etc etc.)through them at reasonable prices.
I hope this may help you and others going down this road.
Best of luck.
