If this is already posted, I missed it.    Just ran across it on youtube - shows the sills taken apart and a bit more.  I think it's in the UK.

That was good information. Although his jittery camera holding made me feel quite sick. Note he comments on the weight of the sill. The heaviest he has ever seen.  The gauge of the steel on these cars is very tough.

For the amount of work and money going in to that car I would not rely on any of topical rust treatment. Seems to never last long. I would blast it off until clean metal

A light coat of rustoleum will take care of that.
