Title: Vent leaver replacement
Post by: Brennie on September 08, 2021, 14:58:03
Hi
I wonder if replacing a vent lever( as seen in picture) is a massive job requiring the removal of the chrome vents.. I have one side ( left) missing on a RHD SL230
Thank you

Brennie,

If you're talking about the black slider lever, my memory is that it just pops in or out; however, to put it in, you have to find the orientation of the sleeve it goes into (I usually just poke around a bit till I feel it go into the sleeve).

A related question for the group: if it were necessary to remove the chrome vent, how is that done with minimal breakage to the metal tabs (?) that hold it in place?

For the black tip - I do not think, indeed, you have to remove anything.

For the chrome, from what I remember, I started from the black box removal behind it. Then you can work on the clips. Plenty of posts on that on the Forum.

The black lever pulls out as said before. The vent cover has two pins to hold it in position. A tiny spring steel ring is pushed onto the pins to hold the vent grill in position.

In addition to the two pins there is also a hook at the bottom which is the real problem if it isn't already broken off.
The plate must be lifted up to release the hook and not pulled forward.
