1969 280sl USA version Automatic
I am getting ready to start my engine for the first time. I want the center instrument cluster installed for obvious reasons. I have already connected the oil pressure line to the engine and routed it into the dash. I know where the large electronic connector goes.
Where on the engine does the thermometer line bolt into? I have looked at my motor but cannot find it. the line seems long enough to reach to either side. I am aware of how fragile the line is. I will also bench test it with a heat gun before I install it.
If you could either tell me where or show me a picture, it would be greatly appreciated. Or any other tips to go along with it.
thanks for your help

On my engine (late 280Sl euro) it is as per the arrow.

And if you have the early version M130 engine with the "pod" the temperature sensor goes in the pod.

I am unfamiliar with what 'pod' you are referring to. what is its purpose? Where on the motor is it?

This is where the thick coolant hose going to Injection Pump begins. The hose is reddish on the picture.

Ok, I will check that when I get home tonight
thanks for your help
